On a spectacular day up in Negaunee 5 teams went at it for the Negaunee Lions Invitational on Saturday. Finishing 5th with 2 pts. was Gwinn; in 4th place was Escanaba; in 3rd place was Ishpeming Westwood with 78 pts; Runner Up with 103.5 pts was Negaunee and winning the meet was the Redmen from Marquette with 121 pts. The winners for the Redmen were in the 3200 Relay team of Jacob Johnson, Peyton Osborne, Nathan Zika and Mathurin Gagnon in 8:48.64; 110 Hurdles champ was Drew Thomas in 16.22; 100 Meter Dash champ was Ethan Martysz in 11.13; 800 Relay Team of Elijah Pickard, Joseph Carlisle, Kevin Lee and Jonas Blum in 1:36.35; 1600 Meter run champ was Garrett Rudden in 4:33.76; 400 Relay Team of Ryan Houle, Joseph Carlisle, Kobey Guidebeck and Elijah Pickard in 47.01; 300 Hurdles champ was Jonas Blum in 42.00; 800 Meter run champ was Nathan Zika in 2:06.15; 200 Meter Dash champ was Ethan Martysz in 23.39; 1600 Meter Relay championship team of Garrett Rudden, Mathurin Gagnon, Kobey Guidebeck and Julien Malherbe in 3:38.77; Shot Put champion was John Skendzel throwing 40’5″; High Jump champion was Raphael Millado jumping 6’6″…overall a great team effort to win the meet with our 3rd meet in 5 days…stay humble and stay hungry Redmen….Coach Kyle Detmers
