Marquette Senior High School, along with Superiorland Kiwanis, are proud to announce that Natalie Robinia (girls soccer) and Brendan Kaski (baseball) have been selected as the Athletes of the Month for April.
Natalie Robinia is a senior student at MSHS and is in the midst of another outstanding season as a member of the Varsity Girls Soccer Team. As a team captain and leader on a solid defensive unit, Natalie played a large role in the team’s recent victories at the Lakeland Union Thunderbird Invitational and at home against Sault Ste. Marie. All wins came via shutout.
In addition to her leadership role on the Redette Soccer Team Natalie also served as team captain on the Girls Alpine Skiing Team this winter. Her top-10 finishes in both the slalom and giant slalom at the MHSAA State Finals helped the team win its fourth consecutive state championship. Natalie is a three-sport student-athlete at MSHS and also participates as a member of the Girls Tennis Team.
Natalie also enjoys success in the classroom with a 4.22 GPA. In addition to receiving the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award each semester, Natalie was also named as an Excellence in Education scholarship recipient and will be receiving a local scholarship later in May.
Natalie’s post-graduation plans are to attend Northern Michigan University to continue her education in a degree program that has yet to be determined.
Brendan Kaski is a senior at MSHS and is wrapping up a fine athletic career as a three-sport student-athlete. While he is currently enjoying success as a member of the varsity baseball team, he is also a standout in the Redmen football and boys basketball programs.
Brendan has played an important leadership role on this year’s varsity baseball team under first year head coach Spencer Larson. Whether it’s contributing a big hit or making a play in the field, Brendan’s whatever-it-takes attitude is contagious among his teammates. He brought this same mentality to the basketball court this winter and his non-stop hustle made him fun to watch as he helped the varsity team to GNC and District championships. As the quarterback on the football field, he helped guide the team to a conference championship and was named All-GNC Honorable Mention and All-U.P. Special Mention.
Brendan also enjoys success in the classroom with a 4.08 GPA and has earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for each semester he as attended MSHS.
Outside of school, Brendan enjoys going to the beach, hiking and mountain biking. His service work includes assisting with youth football camps, the Grant Henriksen Memorial Golf Outing and at the U.P. Builder’s Show.
Brendan’s post-graduation plans are to attend Eastern Michigan University next year as a member of the EMU Honors College and pursue a degree in Exercise Science.
