Marquette Senior High School, along with Superiorland Kiwanis, are proud to announce that Abby Kroll (girl’s track & field), Mitch Connon (boy’s tennis) and Ryan Glover (boy’s swim & dive) have been selected as the Athletes of the Month for April.

Abby Kroll is a senior at MSHS and a three-year member of the girl’s track & field team.  She has also been a three-year member of the varsity girl’s soccer team.

Abby is in the midst of another stellar track & field season and is racking up 1st place finishes as a member of the Redette 400-meter and 800-meter relay teams.  She earned two first place finishes as a member of these relay teams at the 2017 Division I U.P. Track Finals and is looking to achieve those same honors again this year.

Academically, Abby holds a 3.98 GPA and has earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for each of her semesters of enrollment at MSHS.  In addition, she is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Outside of school, Abby volunteers at her church as a youth leader for Awana as well as Children’s Church.  In her free time, Abby enjoys drawing, her youth group and traveling.   Abby’s post-graduation plans are to attend Northern Michigan University and begin her studies in the Art and Design program.

Mitch Connon is a senior at MSHS and is both a four-year member and team captain of the boys tennis team.  In addition, he is also a four-year member of the Redmen wrestling team.

Mitch is in the midst of finishing a well-rounded and highly successful high school career.  He truly is a complete student who has taken full advantage of what MSHS has to offer in terms of academics, athletics and extra-curricular opportunities.  Mitch is currently wrapping things up as a member of the boys tennis team where he holds a current record of 7-2 at number one doubles.  As team captain, he sets the tone with his strong work ethic and positive attitude.  As a member of the MSHS wrestling team, he was previously awarded the team’s “Red Flag Award” as the team’s hardest worker.

Mitch’s extra-curricular involvement includes National Honor Society, We The People, Eco Club and Kids for Change, where he leads a group of students who strive to make a positive difference at MSHS and in the community.  His hobbies and interests outside of school include hiking, camping and beach volleyball.

Mitch owns a 3.94 GPA and has earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement award for each of his semesters at MSHS.  His post-high school plans are to attend Michigan Tech University, where he plans to major in Biomedical Engineering.

Ryan Glover is a senior at MSHS and is a four-year member of the varsity boys swimming & diving team as well as a three-year member of the varsity boys tennis team.

The 2017-18 season served as Ryan’s capstone on phenomenal career as a member of the MSHS boys swimming & diving team.  Cumulatively, Ryan is a three-time selection to the All-U.P. Swimming & Diving Team, a seven-time U.P. champion and also holds the U.P. record in the 200-meter freestyle relay.

Ryan’s work in the classroom is impressive as well, where he owns a 4.10 GPA and has earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement award for each of his semesters at MSHS.  He is also a member of National Honor Society, We The People, symphony orchestra and intramural basketball.

Outside of school, Ryan volunteers time with Adopt-a-Highway and Room at the Inn.  His hobbies include running, disc golf, camping and participating as a member of the YMCA swim team.  His post-high school plans are to attend Northern Michigan University to study biology with additional aspirations to attend dental school.
