Multiple Teams · Mlsna and Seaborg Honored as AOM

The Female Athlete of the Month for April is Aurora Mlsna. Aurora has earned this award through her grit and leadership on the soccer field this year. She has led the Redette squad as a team captain and anchor of the back line. She plays the Center Back position, which is one of the most important in the sport.  She is known for giving max effort and max leadership throughout every game.

Aurora also excelled on the volleyball court this past fall. She earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors and All Region honors in the sport.

She is also an amazing student. She carries a 4.28 GPA, which ranks third in her class. She earned Academic All-State honors in Volleyball this fall as well.  Aurora has been awarded the Academic Achievement Award each semester at MSHS.

In her free time, she participates in the Wind Symphony, enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and playing with her dog. She has also participated in multiple service opportunities through her membership in the National Honor Society and the Key Club.

Next year, Aurora will begin pursuing a degree in Environmental Science at Michigan State University.

Our Male Athlete of the Month for April is Brad Seaborg.  Brad has excelled on the track this year, piling up the medals in the hurdle events. He won the 300M Hurdles in Iron Mountain this year and has also taken home a slew of 2nd and 3rd place medals in the 300M and 110M events. He is also the defending UP Champion in the 300M Hurdles.

Brad also was an important piece to the UP Champion boys soccer team this fall, which he won both years he spent on the varsity squad. Perhaps his best feat of his senior season, however, was his role on the Boys State Champion Alpine Ski team where he finished as the individual State Champion in the Slalom and took 5th in the Giant Slalom. He has won All-State honors in both events all three years he was on the varsity ski team.

In the classroom, Brad carries a 3.03 GPA and is a 4-time member of the Honor Roll.

In his free time, he enjoys sailing and has volunteered for Cat Packs in the past.

Next year, he plans to attend NMU.
